  5. Well, we didn't get the word 'shadow' from the French, obviously! 'Ombre' is a lovely word. I wonder if our 'somber' comes from there. Love the photos. And your previous entry is fascinating. Did you take the photos?

  12. Shadows lengthening always bring a slight feeling of sadness, and these shadow photos capture that wistful feeling.

  13. Me again: As a matter of fact - I do. On the top of the hill where I took the first picture, legend has it that the local farms in the very old days had fortifications where they could seek cover during days of unrest. Among other things there is a water supply that never dries out, and you see for many miles around - including into the North Sea.
